This season, the storyteller of the Pokémon anime (voiced in Japanese by Unshō Ishizuka, and in English by Rodger Parsons) will follow the starting experiences of Debris Ketchum (voiced in Japanese by Rika Matsumoto, and in English by Veronica Taylor), a 10-year-old trying Pokémon coach from Bed Town who is given a Pikachu (voiced by Ikue Ōtani) by Pokémon specialist Teacher Oak to start his Pokémon venture. Debris is driven by his longing to win the Indigo Level's Pokémon Association, a difficult competition for exceptional Pokémon mentors who contend with one another in Pokémon fights. To fit the bill for the competition, Debris should gather the expected number of exercise center identifications, which are tokens acquired subsequent to overcoming every one of the Kanto locale's tip top Pokémon exercise center pioneers. Right off the bat in the season, Debris gets to know the water-type Pokémon coach Foggy, who becomes friends with Debris with at least some expectations of him supplanting her obliterated bike, and Brock, a Pokémon raiser who is the head of the Pewter City rec center.
